Pastor Jim, his wife Julia and their daughter Abby came to Parkgate in June 2003. He grew up in Galesburg, IL and graduated twice from Anderson University in Anderson, IN with a B.A. in 1999 and a Masters of Divinity in 2003. Before coming to Parkgate, Jim spent four years on the staff of Christian Congregation Church of Alexandria, IN as an Associate Pastor.
Jim and Julia, who also graduated from Anderson and who was an 8th grade English teacher in Indiana, were married in May 1999. Julia now stays home with their daughters Abby, who is in Kindergarten in Deer Park, and Katelyn, who is 2. In addition to being a mother and volunteer in Parkgate’s children’s ministry, Julia enjoys reading and spending time with friends. Julia grew up in the suburbs of Chicago after spending her early childhood in Detroit. They love movies, good food with good friends and enjoying all the different experiences of life. Baseball and golf are particular points of interest for Jim.
As Pastor of Parkgate, Jim desperately wants people to come to know who Jesus really is so they will make Him the Forgiver and Leader of their life. He is convinced that being in a living relationship with Jesus and His other followers can transform any life in any situation through love, grace, fellowship and true accountability and care. It is his greatest hope that Parkgate will be used by God to bless many families in Southeast Houston with the love of Jesus.

Pastor R.W., his wife Joy and their children Caleb and Madeline came to Parkgate in August 2007. R.W. grew up outside of Lansing, MI and attended Anderson University after high school where he graduated with a BA in Christian Ministry with specialized focus on Christian Education. Before coming to Parkgate, R.W. served as Pastor of Student Ministry in congregations in Indiana and Ohio. R.W. and Joy were married in May 1999. Joy, who also graduated from Anderson University with a BA in Elementary Education, is on staff at Lomax Elementary School with La Porte ISD where she teaches 2nd grade. Caleb joined the family in 2002 and Madeline in 2004. Together the Moody family enjoys camping and hockey—especially the Detroit Red Wings! |

Kenneth was raised in Germany and England, moving to Montana as a youth, then to Oklahoma as an adult. Kenneth and Arielle were married in September of 2001. In 2005, they welcomed Michael Jeremy into their family. Kenneth graduated with honors from Mid-America Christian University in May of 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry. He served at the Chickasha First Church of the Nazarene as Worship/Youth Pastor for two years, and in the Crossroads Church of God in Columbia Falls, MT for three years prior to deciding to follow the Lord's call to college in Oklahoma. Pastor Kenneth came to Parkgate in July 2006. His youngest son, David, was born in Pasadena in 2007. When Michael and David allow them any free time, Kenneth loves to play the guitar, computer games, and read. Arielle loves to scrapbook. As a couple, they love the most getting to spend time with one another, having play time with their sons, playing board games, watching movies and reading.

Penny Lee has been married to Samuel for17 years and they have 4 children, two girls and two boys. Her husband is an Ordained Minister and they serve the Lord with Spirit Life Church. Penny has been a Christian for 18 years and has dedicated every area of her life to serve the Lord. They have home schooled their children for 13 years. Some of Penny's hobbies are sewing, scrap booking, and making cards. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and movies. At some point in her life she has the desire to travel the world.

Danette Lawson began her official role as Director with us in September of 2003. She earned her Texas Director’s Certification through Child Care Council of Greater Houston in 1996 and served as Director of Burke Road Children’s Center here in Pasadena for six years before coming to us at Parkgate. She leans on the Lord daily for guidance as she coordinates this important ministry of the church, giving God the glory for every blessing it brings to the lives it touches.
A graduate of Harding University in Education and Music, Danette has devoted her life to serving Jesus Christ through many forms of ministry. Most recently before coming to us, she served as Associate Minister at Burke Road Church of Christ, where she coordinated several ministries over the years, including music, worship, children’s education, and publications.
