Growing Together

Parkgate Community Church offers three sessions for people to understand what the Parkgate is about: Growing Together, Growing Up, and Growing H.A.B.I.T.S. During this first session (Growing Together) study we will explore:

The story is told of a minister who waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars in line in front of the service station. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump. "Reverend," said the young man, "sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip." The minister chuckled, "I know what you mean. It's the same in my business!" These “Growing” classes will help us not wait until the last minute to get ready for eternity.

Growing Up

Growing Up (Step 2) is Parkgate's second session. During this session we will discuss the subject of Spiritual Gifts.  In this course you’ll begin a Journey that will help you…

Christians who fail to understand their spiritual gifts are a little like Alice in the story ALICE IN WONDERLAND. In a conversation between her and the Cheshire Cat, Alice asked, “Would you tell me please, which way I ought to go from here?” “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the cat. “I don’t much care where,” said Alice. “Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the cat.”  If you want to end up somewhere with purpose and meaning, tomorrow, then you need to know where you are going, today.  Understanding your spiritual gifts will help you understand where you fit in the overall plans of God. 

Growing H.A.B.I.T.S.

During this third Session, we will discuss how to grow in our faith. The six topics will be:

• Honor – Honoring God
• Adoration – Worshipping God
• Bible Study – Knowing God
• Involvement - Serving God
• Talk - Praying to God
• Stewardship – Faithfulness to God

   There were once two young boys at the breakfast table arguing about who was going to have the first pancake that their mum was cooking. The mother, hearing the argument, seized the moment to teach her sons a lesson. She said, “Guys, do you know Jesus would have let his brother have the first pancake and would have waited for the second one?” Kevin, the older brother, turned to his brother and said, “You be Jesus.” 
      The truth is that WE need to be like Jesus. That’s what the Christian faith is all about:  growing and becoming more like Jesus.  We grow in our faith when we practice certain essentials like Bible study, worship, etc.
