Meeting Time:
We meet at 9:30 in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) except for the third Sunday of each month when we move to the Worship Arts office. |
Studying:
The LIFE (Lessons in Faith and Environment) class uses a dialogue approach to understanding how the Scriptures help us live our lives in the cultural environments in which we find ourselves. Thus, "faith," as developed in this class, is seen as a kind of internalized belief, tacit and personal, that becomes a part of you to such a degree that once assimilated, you hardly need to think of it. We enter it, indwell it, live and love through it.

Biography:
I serve as the lead facilitator for the class. Physically, I am 65 years old; however, I am 36 years young in the Lord. Carol (my helpmate) and I attended Parkgate from 1975 until 1990 when my employer (McDonnell Douglas Corporation) called me to Maryland. I retired from The Boeing Company in 2001 - completing 35 year career in the aerospace industry (all with the same company, but at three different locations). Yes, one company - because McDonnell Douglas and Boeing merged in 1997.
In addition to my responsibilities for the LIFE class, I serve on the Board of Trustees and as an ad hoc administrative assistant who has learned more about the functioning of the church than most people really want to know (ask me about "grease traps" sometime). I am the President of the Texas Revolving Loan Fund of the Church of God in Texas and serve on the Ministries Council of the Church of God. In my spare time, I enjoy being a grandfather, playing golf (Monday and Thursday), and reading (I can offer some good titles for your own reading pleasure).
