US INTRODUCE OURSELVES…
Parkgate Children’s Center is our Texas-licensed child care center (www.dfps.state.tx.us). Hours of operation are 6:30 am - 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We are also a 4-star-rated (****) affiliate with the Texas Rising Star Certification Program (www.worksourceaustin.com).
Children’s Center, one of the major ministries of Parkgate Community Church, is currently licensed for 64 students. We care for children ranging in age from six weeks up to four- and five-year-old Pre-Kindergartners, and we also provide after-school care for elementary schoolagers up through fourth grade. We pick up students from three area public elementary schools (Teague, Turner, and Jensen), and we have afterschoolers enrolled who attend other elementary schools as well, public and private, with their transportation to our Center arranged independently. We have a Summer Program for schoolagers as well, which includes full day care and at least one field trip each week.
Our regular full time and part-time staff of around 25 classroom teachers, administrators, and other support staff provides a nurturing, loving atmosphere for the precious children in our care. We enjoy a teacher-student ratio that is better than most centers in our area are able to provide, which improves opportunities for individual attention and closer supervision.
OUR MISSION, PHILOSOPHY, AND GOAL…
The mission of our program at Parkgate Children’s Center is to give spiritual, emotional, physical, and educational nurture for children who need care outside of their home. We want to provide an opportunity for children to work and play with each other in a happy, friendly, family-oriented, Christian atmosphere, and it is our desire to encourage the development of a personal, life-long relationship with Jesus Christ on the part of children and their families.
We believe children learn best by having opportunities to experience developmentally appropriate activities and curricula which address the physical, emotional, social, cognitive and spiritual needs of the whole child. Children can best develop their individual, unique, God-given potential in a warm and stimulating environment with loving guidance and acceptance. Children have the opportunity to explore their world through Creative Art, Dramatic Play, Bible Lessons and Chapel Time, Science Experiences, Block Center, Reading, Language Development, Manipulatives, Music, Recreation and Creative Movement.
Our on-going goal is to provide these opportunities in a safe, nurturing, Christian environment, where children and staff together are growing toward the likeness of Jesus Christ, and where we also continue the intentional development of both our teaching skills and the effectiveness of our overall operation.
